2009 Harvest Wrap Up
Well it’s the first week of November and harvest is winding down; hard to believe the fun is almost over. Given the warm weather we had this year it’s been an interesting harvest. Our earliest ripening vineyards, Crannell and Croft, came in very early this year with our estate and other remaining vineyard sources coming in shortly thereafter. With such an early and consolidated harvest it made for quite a challenge in terms of finding places to put all of the fruit we brought in, but with the creative skills of our winemaker aided by our efficient crush crew we able to process over 185 tons of fruit in a little over four weeks. We are very excited by what we have seen out of the ’09 vintage. The fruit came in ripe with typical varietal and vineyard specific flavors and it was well balanced in terms of acid and pH. At this early of a stage in the winemaking process we are very grateful to have some wonderful wines on our hands and we are looking forward to watching them mature over the next 10 months.
